You might be surprise what Cuisinart Griddler can really do for you. It might affect your mood especially early morning.
Few months before my kids’ school started, I was only looking for something that can perform indoor grilling and press our everyday sandwiches.
I was totally WRONG.
With only few minutes in the morning and preparing a good meal is my number one priority, I never expected that this Cuisinart Griddler can do something more than I think about.
Before I bought this online, I use toaster for our bread, then frying pan for pancakes, and if I want to cook more stuff aside from pancakes, I need to wash and heat up the pan again. Which is really time consuming.
Giving all these things, thanks to Cuisinart Griddler for it solves everything.

My Very First Sandwich Using Cuisinart Griddler
Disadvantage: Since the plates are non-stick, I still has to use vegetable spray or olive oil.
Anyway, what I do is I just put a little bit of vegetable oil or olive oil on the food rather than spraying the whole plates.
Make sure that when you clean the plates, use the proper tools and avoid metal to metal scraping.
We purchased Cuisinart Griddler before the school year started. I remember the first dish I made was Tofu and Eggplant Sandwich.
Cuisinart Griddler was so helpful for us considering that every one of us were all rushing up that morning because it was kids first school day while we, also need to prepare on our way to our work.
I never had a problem figuring out how it should be use because the controller was really easy to use and understand.
My First Impression on Cuisinart Griddler
- Exterior smoothness and stylish stainless-steel housing looks
- Saves on energy and time
- Panini grill creates a beautiful grilled effect
Is Cuisinart Griddler Easy to Clean?
That’s why I love using this product even in a busy morning. Clean up is like a snap of my finger.
After cooking wait till plate cools down, just take off the two detachable grill plates and pull out the drawer like grease catcher device located at the bottom right, then don’t bother to put them in your dishwasher.
You can wash it manually, but avoid using any metal to scrub its surface, for this is already comes with black cleaning scraper tool.
This can be used for cleaning both the grill and griddle sides of the plates after you have finished cooking and the unit has cooled down completely.
Don’t worry, the nonstick feature of the Cuisinart Griddler plates will make it fast and easy to clean. Just make sure the cleaning tool will not use on hot surface for too long. The Cuisinart Griddler black scraper tool is made up of plastic and it will cause to melt.
Other cool features that makes Cuisinart Griddler awesome
I am using Cuisinart Griddler in different ways of our cooking preferences. I can use it to grill, sauté, sear, fry any thinly cut vegetables and it also presses our sandwiches and breads. Yup, it is 5-in-1 lethal combo, that’s why it’s awesome and wonderful.
Let me tell you its functionality:
Contact Grill – I use this function if I want to cook something that requires short period of time or even looking for a healthy method of grilling.
This function cooks the food quickly because I am grilling both sides at the same time, which allows the veggies drippings coming from the top grill to slowly slides down to the veggie itself, then down to the rear grill, finally drains off through the grease catcher.
The hinges of Cuisinart Griddler are adjustable depending on the thickness of the food that I want to cook using this method. It is so cool that even at breakfast, we can choose to have thinly sliced grilled potatoes that are cooked evenly.
Panini Press– I use this feature to grill our sandwiches, breads and wraps that we bring to our work and my kids school. Like in contact grill, the adjustable design in hinges allows us to press any size or thickness of sandwiches.
I recommend to have the grill plate on top so every time you press your bread, you’ll enjoy the grill effect that the Panini press can give.
I suggest using fresh bread like a homemade one, (I have an artisan bread recipe posted here) because you’ll definitely love the taste and aroma that it brings.
Full Grill– With this full grill, you can grill veggie burgers and any type of veggies you want. If you are planning to grill a large batch, the 200 square inch grill pan will do the rest for you.
This feature will allows you to cook different type of dish at the same time without worrying that you might mix the flavor and taste. Just use the Cuisinart griddler with the cover lying flat thus creates a double flat cooking surface.
Full Griddle– You might be wondering how this thing happens, but by merely flipping the plate you can easily enjoy this. It’s the reversible design of the plates that makes this Cuisinart griddler a bestseller item.
Full griddle is best for making pancakes, garlic toast, and any breakfast potatoes. Weekend breakfast is so fun for us because I have the chance to teach my kids to cook their own pancakes and garlic toast with this griddle.
Half Grill/Half Griddle– Now that you know the functions of both grill and griddle, this function is simply just cooking different dish with different cooking method at the same time. A lot of your time will be save because here you can different type of dish at the same time.
Using this is easy, by allowing both the griddle plate and grill plate facing up on each side, you can have a grilled veggies on the other side while toasting your favorite home made bread on the other griddle plate, without mixing or over cooking the other dish.

Once you assembled the Cuisinart Griddler properly, turn the Selector Dial to the left to choose the Griddle function or to the right to choose the Grill/Panini function, depending on what you intend to cook.
When the knob is turned to either function, a Red Indicator Light will illuminate to indicate that the power is on.

What is Cuisinart Griddler GR-WAFP Waffle Plates?
With Cuisinart Griddler Electric Grill & Griddle Waffle Plates, you don’t have to buy a specific appliance for your waffle making.
This is a non-stick (for easy release of waffles), removable, easy to clean and nice deep pockets for your Belgian-style waffles.
Using your Cuisinart Griddler, by just replacing its plate with waffle plates, it can bake 4 deep pocketed, ¾-inch thick of Belgian waffles with your special recipe. The size of the waffles is perfect for families. Not too big but not too small.
For those who wanted to explore or even learn more about waffle, it already comes with a recipe book, which is a good way to start. My first waffle recipe using Cuisinart griddler plates was “Whole Wheat Buttermilk Waffles”. This was adapted from the Cuisinart Griddler Waffle recipe book itself.
- 1¾ cup white whole wheat flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1¼ cup low fat buttermilk
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs, separated
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl and mix. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, vanilla, and egg yolks and stir into dry ingredients until mixture resembles smooth batter.
- Using a mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, whip egg whites to firm but not dry peaks. Carefully fold whites into batter until the whites and batter are completely incorporated.
- Now, preheat Cuisinart Griddler waffle maker to 400 degrees. Pour desired amount of batter into Cuisinart Griddler waffle maker and close lid.
- You can do 100 jumping jacks, 25 sit-ups and 25 push-ups while waiting.
- Let waffles bake for about 3 minutes, depending on desired doneness. Repeat with rest of waffles.
- Enjoy with your favorite Canadian Maple Syrup.
What makes this plate so special is that, after making a batter and baking it, cool it down for a while then just pop the plates out of your Cuisinart Griddler. Add the waffle plates to the dishwasher or in sink and hand wash it (I prefer this). This is much EASIER than a waffle maker.
